Friends of the Independence Public Library

Friends logoThe Friends of the Independence Public Library are hoping you will join them!  The mission of the Friends group is to build a partnership between the library, the community, and surrounding areas, and to be an advocate of quality library service for people of all ages.

You can support the Friends by getting involved and/or by being a supporting member.  There are membership forms online and at the library.  Annual dues are $5.00 for Junior Friends (up to 18 years), $20.00 for adults, $40.00 for a family, and $250.00 for a lifetime membership. If you would like to get involved, meetings are the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Freedom Room.

The Friends of the library are best known for their book store and book sales.  They offer a special book sale twice annually, usually in April and October.  They also have a book store which is open when the library is open.  The bookstore is located just north of the circulation desk.  Proceeds from the sales help the library. During 2014, over $4,000 was expended by the Friends group for library programs, equipment, furniture, materials, and services.
